Roseland, NJ: (Feb-14-07) Joyce Quinlan, a former executive at the Curtiss-Wright Corp. filed a lawsuit against Martin Benante, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, for denying her a promotion based on her gender. The suit alleged Benante was following a company tradition of keeping women out of top executive positions. An Essex County jury of a Superior Court in Newark awarded Quinlan $4.56 million in punitive damages followed by $4.56 million in compensatory damages. [STAR LEDGER: GENDER DISCRIMINATION]
