Ronald Kegler
Norwalk, CT: Ronald Kegler punched his girlfriend in the face, creating a gash that required 52 stitches. The city man agreed to an unusual settlement in a plea agreement that includes a five-year suspended prison sentence and five years of probation. He agreed to pay a plastic surgeon to fix Kimberly Knight's scar. Police had been called to Kegler's house by his girlfriend of 11 years after an argument over the television remote control escalated to violence. Kegler admitted punching Knight in the face with a closed fist after she slapped him. He was charged with second-degree assault.
Judge Samuel Freedman approved the deal at state Superior Court in Norwalk ordering the defendant to pay for the plastic surgery. The scar that extends from Knight's left cheek, across both lips to the right chin area, would cost about $15,000. (Jan-25-07) [HARTFORD COURANT: GIRLFRIEND ASSAULT]
