Plantation, FL: City paramedics filed a lawsuit claiming they were not being fairly paid overtime. The paramedics work 24-hour shifts; they work 48 hours for three weeks and then 24 hours the fourth week. The lawsuit claimed they should be paid eight hours of overtime pay three out of four weeks each month. A federal judge has ordered Plantation to pay the paramedics $100,000 in damages and back wages and the city must begin paying a 40-hour week and give time-and-a-half for hour over 40 hours a week.
