Tempe, AZ

Phoenix, AZ: During a Tempe art show in April 2003, Tatiana Orpinas tripped over a pothole and injured her knee. Orpinas was walking on Mill Avenue when she tripped over a pothole in a parking spot; the hole was filled with temporary asphalt and it was not marked or level with the ground. Orpinas tore cartilage in her knee and broke her ankle. She had arthroscopic surgery and needs a full knee replacement. She filed a personal injury lawsuit against the town who has agreed to pay the 60-year-old California woman a $150,000 out-of-court settlement. (Nov-16-06) [ARIZONA DAILY STAR: POTHOLE SETTLEMENT]
