Ashland, AL: The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a racial discrimination lawsuit on behalf of more than one dozen African American employees who worked at the company's Ashland poultry plant. The lawsuit claimed white workers posted a "whites only" sign on a locked bathroom and only distributed keys to white employees. Black employees claimed they were subjected to suspensions and disciplinary write-ups when they complained about discrimination. Tyson agreed to pay a total of $871,000.
