Little Egg Harbor, NJ: On November 3, 2004 Little Egg Harbor Intermediate School was mistakenly shot by an F-16 on a training maneuver. The building was damaged by 27 rounds of inert 20mm ammunition from an air cannon mounted on the plane during a nighttime mission over the New Jersey Pinelands. Eight of the 2-inch lead rounds punched through the school's roof, knocking down ceiling tiles; luckily no one was injured in the mishap. The Air Force will pay more than $500,000 to the Ocean County elementary school. (Nov-01-06) [NEWSDAY: AIR FORCE SHOOTING]
