Commissioner Bill Memory

Columbus - In July 2005, Department of Social Services Director Marva Scott filed a lawsuit against Commissioner Bill Memory after she was suspended from work for 30 days for reporting the theft of some documents from her office. The Columbus County Board of Commissioners found no evidence that Scott mishandled any funds, destroyed evidence or was involved in any other improprieties that warrants the attention of this office or any other law enforcement agency; she was paid a $195,000 settlement.
