Nike

Hackney - A line of Nike gear featured the distinctive Hackney 'H' symbol surrounded by the words "The London Borough of Hackney". Nike did not have permission from the London Borough to use logo. Hackney council threatened court action over the unauthorized use of logo and claimed Nike sought to capitalize on its association with Hackney Marshes where the "Parklife" commercial starring Eric Cantona was filmed in the 1990s. Nike has agreed to pay Hackney council £300,000 in an out-of-court settlement. (Sep-11-06) [GUARDIAN UNLIMITED]
