In 2004, at the age of 20, William Beed Jr. died of a brain hemorrhage. His lungs, liver and kidneys were donated to four patients in Dallas and Alabama. It was later discovered that Beed died from rabies and three of the four organ recipient later died of the same cause. Beed's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against his apartment complex claiming bats were the source of the rabies. Most of the settlement with Pinnacle Realty Management Co. was confidential, but it awarded Beed's baby girl a $300,000 settlement over the next 16 years. (Jun-06-06) [LEDGER ENQUIRER]
