City of Pittsburgh

Evelyn Wei was hit by a van while trying to cross a crosswalk on Braddock Avenue in Regent Square. Wei died two days later from her injuries at the age of 33. Wei's parents filed a lawsuit against the city claiming the crosswalk was improperly lit and was not marked with yield signs. A jury awarded the family a $3.7 million settlement and found the city 20% liable for the accident. The city of Pittsburgh has agreed to pay $465,000 and the rest should be covered by the drivers insurance. (Feb-08-06) [PITTSBURGH CHANNEL]
