Several former employees filed a lawsuit against Carl's Jr. Restaurant alleging a shift leader directed racial slurs at African American employees. The suit claimed several employees were fired in retaliation for submitting a petition to management signed by co-workers. Carl's agreed to pay a $255,000 settlement. One anonymous woman is set to receive $100,000 while other non-white workers who were employed at the Elk Grove restaurant from February 2001 to October 2002 may be eligible for a share of the remaining settlement money.
