City of Rancho Palos Verdes

In May 2002, 40 year old father of three Dr. Paul Leung Ho was in a devastating car accident that left him partially paralyzed. The accident occurred at the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and Crestridge Road. Ho filed a lawsuit against the city and two contract traffic engineering firms claiming the signal timing did not afford left turning motorists an adequate opportunity to clear the intersection before oncoming traffic entered it. Ho suffers from brain damage and will require lifelong medical care and assistance for routine daily tasks. The city has agreed to pay a $6 million settlement, while Willdan and Norris Repke will pay $2.1 million of the damages. (Dec-02-05) [DAILY BREEZE]
