Clackamas County

In January 2003, sergeant Damon Coates responded to a domestic call at a Milwaukee home. Fifteen year old Nick Teixeira shot him in the face. Coates now has permanent injuries, including brain damage. Coates filed a lawsuit against the county for failing to provide him with a sufficient safety warning at the scene. Clackamas County has agreed to award Coates a $1.5 million settlement. (Oct-06-05) [KOIN NEWS]
