On Dec 30, 2001, five year old Miho Kingetsu was visiting Hyogo Prefecture man made beach in Akashi when the sand caved in beneath her as she was walking with her family. Miho was buried in the sand; she was immediately pulled out but sustained critical injuries. She died May 26, 2002, five months after the accident.
