On July 26th, 2001, Earl Dean Griffith was recuperating from surgery at the Atlantic Shores nursing home when hundreds of ants bit him to death in his bed. The home allegedly had a fire ant infestation problem for years. The nation's third largest long term health care company, which is based in Georgia, has agreed to pay the retired postal workers family $2 million in damages. (Mar-14-05)
