Helen Montgomery was brutally murdered in 1997 by two young female offenders, Serena Nicotine and Catherine Mackenzie. Montgomery, a group home operator, was looking after the teens sent to her from the Saskatchewan Department of Social Services. Both girls were tried as adults and are serving life sentences for second-degree murder.
