City of Venice

Wastewater department workers, Warren Petitt, Troy Evans and James Campbell aided state and federal investigators who were looking into possible cover-ups and sewage spills. The three men from pollution control claimed George Hunt and former utilities department managers unlawfully retaliated by cutting their contracts short for assisting the officials. Hunt, the former city manager, and John Lane, former utility director are being held responsible for unfair budget cuts. An $81,500 settlement was awarded to the three men and new management positions were also created. (Nov-13-04) [VENICE GONDOLIER]
