Lexington, KYBluegrass Hospitality Group and its related companies, which operate a number of restaurants, recently agreed to pay more than $114,000 in back wages to employees after allegedly violating overtime laws.
The Lexington Herald Leader reports that the groups will pay the money to 43 employees as the result of an investigation conducted by the US Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division, which claimed the companies violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the news source, the companies involved in the alleged violations include Lexington Choice Restaurant, Malone's Restaurant and Sal's Chophouse.
"Without admitting the validity of the Department of Labor's determination, we agreed to compensate these employees for the claimed overtime wages to put this matter behind us," Bluegrass Hospitality Group said in a release. "We have taken a number of steps to ensure all employees will be compensated for all future overtime appropriately."
According to its Web site, the operating owners of Bluegrass Hospitality Group are Brian McCarty and Bruce Drake.
