St. Louis, MOIn the latest Missouri car accident to hit the Gateway City, a 90-year-old St. Louis woman died in a two-car collision just south of interstate 70 near Greenfield.
Earnestine Davis was out for a drive with her daughter, 53-year-old Felicia D. Davis, and granddaughter, 20-year-old Rischauna Davis, when she blindly turned right onto southbound Ind. 9, placing the vehicle directly in the path of an oncoming Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep, driven by 36-year-old Richard T. Rottinghaus of New Castle, plowed into the side of Davis' 1996 Honda Accord on the passenger side, wounding both Earnestine and Felicia, who was seated on the passenger side of the vehicle.
Earnestine suffered numerous internal injuries and was rendered unconscious in the incident. Local rescue teams airlifted the elderly woman to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Both Rischauna and Felicia were treated for minor injuries on the scene. Rottinghaus was unharmed in the incident.
Official reports indicate that Davis' careless driving was responsible for the collision, as the driver confessed that she did not see the Jeep prior to the accident.
