A Missouri car accident that occurred earlier this week claimed its second victim after a 25-year-old woman died of injuries sustained in the crash.

Nichole Porter passed away at Cox South hospital in Springfield, Missouri, one day after the accident killed 24-year-old Jessica Jenkins, the Springfield News-Leader reports.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, both Porter and Jenkins died as a result of a car accident when the car they were riding in ran a stop sign and crashed into a rock embankment.

The driver of the car, 25-year-old Michael Green, was seriously injured in the car accident and was taken by helicopter to Cox South hospital in Springfield after being treated at Skaggs Regional Medical Center in Branson.

The Missouri Highway Patrol's report indicates that none of the three occupants of the car were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

There were 960 fatalities that occurred because of Missouri car accidents in 2008, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
