The 27-year-old daughter-in-law of a Missouri congressman recently died in a Missouri car crash.

Amy Berhorst Luetkemeyer, the daughter-in-law of Representative Blaine Luetkemeyer (R - MO), was killed while driving on Missouri 133, two miles south of Meta, Missouri, reports the Columbia Missourian.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Luetkemeyer was traveling north in a Mazda 6 when her vehicle crossed the center line. She sideswiped a southbound vehicle, went off the road, overcorrected and then was struck by a southbound Dodge Ram.

Luetkemeyer was taken to Capital Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Paul Sloca, a spokesman for Representative Luetkemeyer, told the news source that Amy married the congressman's son, Trevor, in October 2009. He also expressed sympathy for the victim's family.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Berhorst family," he said, according to the news provider.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 960 traffic fatalities in Missouri during 2008, the 14th highest in the nation.
