A Missouri car crash has left one woman dead and three others injured.

April Faulkner, 35, was killed while riding in the front passenger seat of a car that struck a guardrail on Interstate 44, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Witnesses said that the car was speeding at the time of the accident. Police reports indicate that the driver of the car, a 25-year-old man, lost control of the 1997 Ford Explorer while trying to change lanes. The car hit a guardrail and flipped over several times.

The driver, along with a 19-year-old female passenger and a 19-month-old girl, who was secured in a safety seat in the backseat, were taken to a local hospital, but the police told the news source that their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Police are not sure why the driver lost control of the vehicle. They said it would take three to four months to reconstruct the accident and determine the exact cause of the crash that claimed Faulkner's life.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 960 deaths related to car accidents in Missouri during 2008.
