After a recent purchase of Blacksmith Brands Holdings Inc., whose brands include Effergrip denture cream, consumer products company Prestige Brands Holdings Inc. has announced the purchase of Johnson & Johnson's US Dramamine business for $76 million, the Associated Press reports.

According to a recent article in the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader, zinc in denture adhesives has been blamed in a number of recent cases of nerve damage.

In September, Prestige agreed to pay $190 million for Blacksmith Brands, which also includes Luden's throat drops, PediaCare children's products and NasalCrom allergy medicine, according to the Associated Press.

Currently, Prestige also owns consumer products such as Clear Eyes solution and Chloraseptic relievers for sore throats, the news provider said.

With the recent transactions, 75 percent of the company's revenue will now consist of over-the-counter products. The latest deal with Johnson & Johnson is expected to be completed by the end of January and will begin adding to Prestige's profit in 2012, according to the company.
