North Carolina Yoga Studio Offers Shoulder Injury Rehabilitation

. By Charles Benson

One Center Yoga in Asheville, North Carolina, will host a shoulder injury rehabilitation class entitled "Yoga for Shoulder Rehab" once a week from January 12 to February 16, the Asheville Citizen-Times reports.

The class is the perfect option for those who have previously suffered a shoulder injury, people with chronic shoulder pain and those with unstable shoulders, according to the news provider.

Some of the techniques that will be practiced during the class include breathing, meditation and specific yoga poses designed to release the tension and restore the stability in one's shoulders. The classes are offered to people of all ages who suffer from shoulder injuries.

The cost to participate in the six-week series of classes is $60 and class sizes are limited to just 12 students, according to the news provider.

The program was reportedly established by Andria Davis, a certified yoga instructor and professional whitewater paddler who has suffered a number of shoulder injuries. Davis put together the yoga treatment program to help strengthen her shoulder and now teaches the technique to others.

According to the National Library of Medicine, other standard treatments for shoulder injuries include ice, elevation, exercise, medicines and possibly surgery as a last resort.
