Barron Hilton to Pay $4.9M in DUI-Related Incident

Los Angeles, CA: Barron Hilton, the younger brother of infamous socialite Paris Hilton, has been ordered to pay $4.9 million by a jury hearing a personal injury lawsuit in which he is the named defendant.

The suit, brought by Fernando Tellez, alleges that Hilton struck him while driving under the influence in the gas station parking lot in which Tellez was working. The incident took place in February 2008, and Hilton was allegedly involved in a separate incident that same night, for which he had been arrested for driving under the influence. Tellez claimed that as a result of being hit he sustained back injuries which require surgery. However, due to those same injuries, he is unable to work, he claims.

Defense counsel argued that no witnesses saw Hilton hit Tellez and video taken a few hours after the alleged incident showed Tellez with no observable injury and walking normally. However, Tellez's doctors testified that his injuries were consistent with the type of impact alleged in the incident.
