Fired Financial Aid Director Awarded $418K in Whistleblower Lawsuit

Ann Arbor, MI: A former employee of a conservative Catholic college in Ann Arbor has been awarded a $418,000 verdict in settlement of her whistleblower lawsuit.

The plaintiff alleged she was fired in violation of the Whistleblower Protection Act, in retaliation for cooperating with federal investigators with regard to an investigation into the college's improper use of financial aid funds. However, the college contended that the plaintiff's job was eliminated due to business considerations and was not retaliatory for her cooperation with federal investigators.
