Bad Faith EstimateBuffalo, NY: (May-20-08) Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo brought charges against Quality First Auto Glass and its owner, Alan Moore, a defunct Amherst auto-glass repair shop, alleging that they collected money from 424 Western New Yorkers who had done business with them, which they were not entitled to receive. As part of a settlement reached in the case, the auto-glass repair shop as been barred from collecting more than $233,000 in additional payments from his former customers.Federal officials said that the Quality First customers covered by the settlement had used Moore's business for automotive glass replacement from 1993 until it's closing in February 2006. Following that Moore hired Neon Claims Advantage, a Nebraska debt collection agency, to try to collect from the customers the difference between the company's original cost estimate and the insurance company's payment.
