Salt Lake City, UT: When it comes to Accutane side effects, things might not be as simple as determining that a patient took Accutane acne medication and then suffered inflammatory bowel disease. In fact, doctors may not make a link between a patient developing the condition and Accutane medication. This means that patients might have to alert their doctor to the possibility that exposure to Accutane medication resulted in development of inflammatory bowel disease.

New York, NY: It's been more than a year since Accutane was taken off the market in the US by manufacturer Hoffmann-La Roche, ostensibly due to the cost of defending an increasing number of lawsuits alleging Accutane inflammatory bowel disease. Last year a former Accutane user was awarded $25.1 million after suing the manufacturer, and there are reportedly hundreds more lawsuits in the pipeline brought by Accutane lawyers.

Newark, NJ: 2011 marks the start of some high-profile Accutane medication lawsuits. Although the Accutane side effects lawsuits were meant to be heard last year, a decision in a separate lawsuit resulted in the judge postponing at least some of the Accutane inflammatory bowel disease lawsuits. Starting in February, jury selection will begin in a lawsuit filed by actor James Marshall, a lawsuit that could receive a lot of attention, given the support Marshall has from his Hollywood colleagues.
