Four Dead in New York Train Derailment

Four people are dead and others seriously injured following a train accident in New York. According to USA Today (12/1/13), more than 60 people were injured in the train crash, in which a commuter train derailed early Sunday morning. Reports indicate that some of the people who died were ejected from the train, while other commuters were trapped underneath some of the cars.

The train involved in the accident was reportedly on a line run by Metro-North Railroad, and left Poughkeepsie at 5:54 am. It is not known what caused the train derailment, in which four cars of the seven-car train went off the tracks. Of the 63 people injured, 11 suffered critical injuries. Other injured passengers suffered head, neck, spinal cord and limb injuries.
