Stihl Chainsaw Recall

. By Jane Mundy

The [U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission], in cooperation with the chainsaw manufacturers, recently announced voluntary recalls of the STIHL MS 192 T Chain Saw. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

On its website, [Stihl] states that the following could occur:

"A fuel line in the purge pump system may pull apart from a connector allowing fuel to escape; a connection in the ignition grounding system may loosen and create a spark; and/or the springs in the clutch assembly may come out of position, allowing a spring of the clutch to be projected from the saw housing. The above problems could result in injury to the user."

Stihl's website also displays a photograph of the recalled Chain Saw. You can also find the Stihl dealer nearest you on its website.

THE AFFECTED PRODUCTS FALL WITHIN THE SERIAL NUMBER RANGE OF 264371702 - 266087005. The Serial number is located on decal and engraved into housing.

Consumers may call STIHL for more information at 1-800-610-6677.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission protects the public from unreasonable risks of injury or death from 15,000 types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction.
