Ski-Doo Recall

. By Jane Mundy

Consumers should stop using certain Ski-Doo Model Year 2006 REV500 SS, REV 600 HO, and REV 600 HO SDI snowmobiles.

A safety recall was issued by the [Consumer Product Safety Commission] (CPSC) and Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. The snowmobiles were manufactured by Bombardier Recreational Products Inc., of Valcourt, Quebec. Approximately 4,000 snowmobiles are being recalled. The CPSC reports that "Cracks could appear in the starter ring gears allowing gear fragmentation at high speeds. The debris could act like projectiles and cause serious injury or death to riders or bystanders."

Contact: Consumers can call Bombardier at (888) 864-2002 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

If there has been no injury, you should contact the manufacturer.
