A bus accident on the I-95 in central Virginia has left four people dead and dozens injured, MSNBC.com reported Tuesday morning.

The bus was carrying 58 passengers bound for New York on a commercial tour, when it overturned early Tuesday morning. Debris including luggage and broken glass still littered the highway hours after the injured and dead had been removed from the scene. The injured passengers were taken to 11 hospitals in Richmond and Fredericksburg.

Virginia State police, who were called to the scene of the accident at 4:55 am Tuesday, said the Sky Express Inc bus was resting on its roof about a quarter mile south of Carmel Church exit. The suspected cause of the accident is driver fatigue, but investigations are underway. The driver suffered minor injuries and is cooperating with the investigation. The driver has not been charged.
