Woman Injured in Supermarket Fall Awarded $1M

Almeda, CA: A shopper who fractured her hip as a result of a slip and fall incident at a market, as been awarded $1,077,063 by the jury hearing her personal injury lawsuit

In 2009, Amy Jong slipped and fell while shopping at 99 Ranch Market in Dublin. She alleged she slipped on an unidentified liquid near an open-top refrigeration unit. As a result of the fall Jong underwent reconstructive surgery just one day later. However she later developed necrosis which led to her needing a full hip replacement.

In her suit, Jong blamed Welcome Market Inc., the owner of the 99 Ranch Market, alleging it failed to adequately inspect the premises. She further contended that the floor was excessively slippery.
