Injured Train Conductor Awarded $1.74M SettlementSan Joaquin County, CA: A train conductor who was injured on the job - while working for Burlington, Northern Santa Fe Railway in 2003, has been awarded a $1.74 million settlement.Neil Jensen was working in the Fresno yard switching cars when he alleged that the cut lever he was pulling up stopped abruptly. This caused him to suffer two torn ligaments in his wrist, which required several surgeries before he was able to return to work. However, he maintains he still sufferes from constant pain and discomfort. In his suit Jensen alleged that Burlington Northern was liable for the lever malfunction under the Federal Safety Appliance Act.
