SAP Hit With $1.3 Billion Verdict In Oracle Infringement Case

San Francisco, CA: German software company SAP has been hit with a jury verdict of $1.3 billion in damages for copyright infringement against Oracle. The trial ran 12 days, and the jury reached the landmark verdict after deliberating for one day.

Previously, SAP had admitted that its TomorrowNow subsidiary had illegally downloaded and made hundreds of thousands of infringing copies of Oracle's software and support materials, so this case focused on damages only.
