Charter Communications Settles Overtime Suit for $18millionCharter Communications has agreed to pay $18 million to 8,000 current and former workers in certain field technician positions in California, Missouri, Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Nevada, Washington, Oregon and Nebraska.The class action lawsuit, filed in 2008, alleged workers were not paid overtime and back pay. The 2008 lawsuit was filed on behalf of employee Maurice James Sjoblom in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. Workers claimed that Charter failed to compensate field technicians for a variety of tasks, including loading and unloading the company vehicle, travel time and uncompensated pre-work activities such as gathering and stocking.
