Man Attacked in Bar Awarded $10 Million

A man who was attacked in a bar by a drunken patron armed with a half-full beer mug has been awarded just over $10 million. Kenneth Comfort had reportedly drunk 19 beers in 3 hours and had had intermittent conversations during that time with Dan Maddy.

Comfort ended the conversation by striking Maddy in the face with the 22-ounce mug. The mug shattered and severed Maddy's carotid artery.

The 21-year-old rookie bartender who was working at the time, said she wasn't sure if she has seen the company training video that instructed staff not to serve more than 3 drinks to a customer per hour.

Lawyers representing Maddy reportedly produced evidence in court to show that the bar, Ruby Tuesday, had been sued throughout the country for numerous incidents of liquor liability.
