Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Settle with California
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield have agreed to settle with the state of California regarding individual insurance policies that were improperly dropped by the health insurers, because the insurees made minor mistakes in filling out the forms.
Blue Cross has agreed to pay a $10 million fine, which is the largest fine ever collected by the Department of Managed Health Care. Blue Cross will also provide coverage to 1,770 consumers whose had their policies canceled. Blue Shield will pay a $3 million fine and offer coverage to 400 dropped customers.
