Pfizer Settles with Justice Department Over Clean Air

Pfizer, one of the world's pre-eminent pharmaceutical companies, has reached a settlement with the US Justice Department regarding violations of the Clean Air Act. The settlement includes a civil penality of $975,000.

This is the first settlement involving industry-specific standards for airborne emissions during pharmaceutical manufacturing. It relates to Pfizer's failure to properly test for, identify and repair leaks at its plant in Groton, CN, between October 2002 and December 2005.
