Liquor Permits

San Fernando, CA: (Feb-23-08) Severyn Aszkenazy, a developer, brought charges against the city of San Fernando, alleging that the city illegally denied liquor permits for a restaurant project. Sources close to the case stated that the parties had reached a settlement agreement, in which the city has agreed to pay $750,000 to settle Aszkenazy's complaint. Sources stated that the deal was struck just days after a trial began, to determine what penalty the city should face for having denied the permit. The trial was suspended as the two sides hammered out a deal. Additionally, as part of the deal, Aszkenazy agreed to withdraw his lawsuit, according to the agreement. Each side will pay its own legal costs. [DAILY NEWS: LIQUOR PERMITS]
