Stolen Gun
Fort Pierce, FL: (Jan-09-08) The family of 16-year-old Robert Scott Jr. brought a wrongful death lawsuit against Dustin Williams, 17, after Williams pointed and fired a stolen gun, killing Robert Scott Jr. in 2006. The suit stated that Williams took a Colt Mustang .380 handgun from Martin County sheriff's deputy George Primm's patrol car, which was parked outside his Port St. Lucie home, near Williams' house. Authorities have said Williams fired the gun without realizing a bullet remained in the chamber. Sources confirmed that the lawsuit accused Primm of negligence, leaving his deadly gun unsafely stored in an unlocked vehicle. An internal sheriff's office investigation cleared Primm of any negligence.
As part of a settlement reached, source stated the family had reached an agreement with the owner of the gun, resolving the lawsuit. St. Lucie Circuit Judge Ben Bryan signed an order dismissing the case with each side bearing its own costs. Other details of the settlement were not made public. [PALM BEACH POST: STOLEN GUN]
