Woods' Wife Wins
Dublin, Ireland: (Dec-08-07) Elin Nordegren Woods, wife of golfer Tiger Woods, brought a lawsuit against The Dubliner, an Irish magazine, alleging that the magazine published an abusive article and a faked nude photo of her. Sources claimed that the article visibly angered Woods during the opening day of competition, which the United States lost to Europe. Trevor White, publisher of The Dubliner, claimed that the article, published in September 2006 when Ireland was hosting the Ryder Cup, was cheap, tasteless, and deliberately offensive. It was also completely untrue. As part of a settlement reached, Nordegren Woods won an $183,250 payout and an apology The Dubliner must publish in a variety of venues, including in its next issue. Under the terms of the agreement, if the magazine fails to meet the conditions the award will be increased to $366,500 and the publishers will have to pay Nordegren Woods' legal costs.
