Car Crash Spinal Injuries

Norwich, CT: (Sep-20-07) Peter Barnes, a Salem man, brought a lawsuit against George Mailloux, after he sustained injuries in a collision with a vehicle driven by Mailloux. Barnes sued for injuries sustained in the Dec. 8, 2003 collision that took place near the intersections of routes 82 and 85. Sources claimed that Barnes' judgment was reduced by 40% due to contributory negligence. The suit went through a four-day trial in August 2007 in the New London judicial district, where Barnes sued for loss of wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering. Barnes suffered a spinal injury in the accident and underwent surgery as a result of it. In a settlement reached, a jury awarded Barnes $257,000, $65,000 of which came from Mailloux's insurance company, Allstate. Allstate did not appeal the verdict. [NORWICH BULLETIN: CAR CRASH]
