Hesperia Unified School District

Hesperia, CA: (Aug-15-07) Hank Richardson, former superintendent of Hesperia Unified School District (HUSD) reached a settlement with the school board in which he will keep his salary of $163,525 plus benefits for two more years under a buyout agreement. As per the terms of the settlement, Richardson will remain on administrative leave until Feb. 14 2008. Richardson will then continue to receive his salary and benefits for 18 months through Aug. 13, 2009. The former superintendent's health and welfare benefits currently cost the district $10,972 annually and he will continue to receive health and welfare benefits until he is 65. The agreement also required HUSD and Richardson to jointly draft a press release regarding his departure from the district, and prohibits either side from criticizing the other in a non-disparagement provision.
