Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky

Scott County, KY: (May-07-07) The Department of Labor filed charges against Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky in 2006, alleging that TMMK had violated labor laws by not paying employees according to stipulated wage/hour norms. The suit involved an issue which debated as to whether workers should be paid for the time they take to put on and take off protective clothing and walk to their work area. In a settlement reached, Toyota agreed to a $4.5 million settlement with more than 1,000 affected workers. As part of the agreement, those who accepted the settlement agreed not to pursue further action against TMMK. Not all employees accepted the settlement. [GEORGETOWN NEWS: WORKERS WAGES]
