Gibraltar Design

Flagler County School Board filed an $11 million lawsuit against the design firm related to construction at the Matanzas High School. In March 2004, the construction of Matanzas was stopped after the facilities director and an architect discovered that engineering plans created by Gibraltar Design called for a flimsily built school. They noted the second floor of the school would have easily collapsed on the first floor. The school district canceled its contract with Gibraltar after hearing the long list of problems. The Flagler School Board approved a $775,000 settlement because Gibraltar Design was not worth more than its $1 million insurance policy. (Aug-16-06) [DAYTONA BEACH NEWS JOURNAL ONLINE]
