A $2.5 million dollar verdict has been awarded to the family of Malik Jones in their wrongful death suit filed against the city of East Haven, Connecticut. The 21-year-old black man was shot and killed by a white police officer, Sgt. Robert Flodquist, in 1997. The jury found that the officer used excessive force when he shot Jones after a car chase that began in East Haven. (Jul-10-03) [ABC]
