Yasmin Lawsuit Settlement Update

Richmond, VA: Although Bayer is currently settling thousands of Yasmin lawsuits, Yaz and Yasmin attorneys say it isn't too late to file a Yasmin claim. As of April 26, the drug company says it has settled 651 cases and thousands more are pending.

Attorney: Yasmin Birth Control Makers Settling Lawsuits

Dallas, TX: When it comes to determining whether or not to take Yasmin birth control, Yaz birth control or Ocella birth control, one of the concerns is likely the risk of side effects from the contraceptives. Lawsuits filed against Bayer AG, allege the contraceptive maker knew about the side effects but failed to adequately warn patients about those risks. Dr. Shezad Malik, founder of the Dr. Shezad Malik Law Firm, says Bayer is now in the process of settling certain Yasmin, Yaz and Ocella blood clot lawsuits.

651 Yaz/Yasmin Lawsuits Settled for $142 Million

Berlin, Germany: Bayer AG, the manufacturer of Yaz/Yasmin birth control pills, has announced that it has settled 651 US Yasmin blood clot lawsuits for a total, so far, of $142 million. This makes the average settlement about $218,000 a case.

Pulmonary Embolism Victim Files Yasmin Lawsuit to Raise Awareness

Annapolis, MD: Mary's attorney says she will soon be settling with Bayer. "I didn't file a Yasmin lawsuit just for the money," says Mary, who almost died from a Yasmin pulmonary embolism. "I did it to raise public awareness and get this birth control pill off the market."

Pulmonary Embolism Patient Files Yasmin Lawsuit

Brooklyn, NY: Despite the fact that Caitlin is in her 30s, a long-distance swimmer and the epitome of health, she is lucky to be alive. FDA Changes Labeling on Drospirenone Birth Control and Blood Clots

Washington, DC: Attorneys representing Yasmin and Yaz plaintiffs nationwide are being contacted by Bayer to possibly reach settlements for their clients with pulmonary embolism and/or deep vein thrombosis (DVT) claims. Washington, DC: Concern over Yasmin birth control continues to mount—in tandem with Yaz lawsuits—and while Yasmin manufacturer Bayer released a label update to Yasmin late last month, there are those in the industry who wonder why the label change was not specific to Yasmin side effects, but instead covered a wide swath of any contraceptive containing drospirenone (DRSP) and ethinyl estradiol (EE).
