Targus Inc. Publishes Safety Notice Regarding Slimline Power Inverters

Targus Inc., of Anaheim, California recently released a "Safety Notice" to Immediately Stop Sales of Model APV07CA 150 Watt and APV08CA 45 Watt Dual Outlet Slimline Power Inverters to its key US Distributors.

Targus Inc., a well known provider of notebook PC accessories and peripherals, as well as products for other devices like the iPod, states that the 45 Watt and 150 Power Inverters, manufactured by CyberPower Systems, have a potential risk of serious electric shock to the consumers with products using these Inverters. The notice also states that electrical products used with the Inverters may be at risk for damage as well, and that there may be other unknown risks associated with the product .

Targus states that they have not received any reports of injuries or substantive damage as a result of the use of these Inverters. They state that they are issuing the warning nonetheless, to minimize the potential for such incidents.

Targus has asked all of it's distributors to cease sales of these Inverters, in addition to having distributors contact retailers they sold the product to, in order to have them removed from the shelves and returned to Targus.

Targus has not yet stated what it plans to do in terms of informing the public, the many consumers who already own this product about the risks it poses.
