Child's Death Prompts Recall of Wall-Mounted Radiators

Following the report of a child's death in Belgium, the manufacturer of Radson Wall-Mounted Radiators, Rettig Belgium NV, is recalling about 36 radiators sold in the US, and 113,000 sold worldwide.

The hazard is that the radiator can come loose from the wall, and fall on people near it. While no incidents have been reported in the US to date, there have been 52 incidents reported outside the US, including the death of the child in Belgium.

The recalled radiators are used to heat a home and are mounted vertically to the wall. The recall involves the Radson Vertical 20 and 21, Radson Kos V21, and Radson Faro V21.

The radiators were sold by plumbing and heating supply companies from October 2007 through January 2008 for between $300 and $700.
